CTET

CTET stands for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a national-level examination conducted in India to assess the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers in primary and upper primary schools. The CTET is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of the Government of India.

The primary objective of CTET is to ensure that teachers possess the essential knowledge and skills required to teach students effectively. It sets the benchmark for quality in teacher recruitment and helps in maintaining national standards and improving the quality of education.

I. CTET Child Development and Pedagogy Syllabus:
Child development and pedagogy are some of the most crucial subjects for the CTET exam. It comprises 30 questions. Each correct response carries 1 mark. It will focus on the Educational Psychology of teaching and learning relevant to age groups 6 to 11 years. The students can score well in this section if they will study each topic extensively. Language 1 will focus on proficiencies related to the medium of instruction. This section is also scoring but it demands proper preparation. It consists of 30 questions and each question carries 1 mark.

a) Language Comprehension

Reading unseen passages – two passages one prose or drama and one poem with questions on comprehension, inference, grammar, and verbal ability (Prose passage may be literary, scientific, narrative, or discursive)

b) Pedagogy of Language Development

Learning and acquisition
Principles of Language Teaching
Role of listening and speaking; function of language and how children use it as a tool
A critical perspective on the role of grammar in learning a language for communicating ideas verbally and in written form
Challenges of teaching language in a diverse classroom; language difficulties, errors, and disorders

Language Skills
Evaluating language comprehension and proficiency: speaking, listening, reading and writing
Teaching-learning materials: Textbook, multi-media materials, multilingual resources of the classroom

III. CTET English Syllabus For Language- 2
Language 2 is also based on basic concepts such as Language 1. Language 2 will focus on the elements of language and comprehension abilities. It consists of 30 questions  & each question carries 1 mark.

Two unseen prose passages (discursive or literary or narrative or scientific) with questions on comprehension, grammar, and verbal ability.

IV. CTET Mathematics Syllabus 
The mathematics syllabus is lengthy in nature but the level of questions asked in the exam is moderate. Most questions are asked from the basic arithmetic from 1st to 5th std. It consists of 30 questions. Each correct response carries 1 mark.

Questions will be based on the topics prescribed in CTET 2023 syllabus. Most questions in the CTET exam are framed from the NCERT books of Class 1st to 5th.
